First of all, the acronym EP stands for European Pharmacopoeia.
The PE 2.9.52 standard concerns the use of scanning electron microscopy applied in the pharmaceutical field, from research to quality control
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is a powerful imaging technique, superior to optical microscopy, of which it is complementary, in terms of resolution, magnification and depth of field.
Moreover, by exploiting different types of electron-matter interactions, it allows both topographic and chemical composition information to be obtained, and can therefore be used as an analytical tool.
SEM is a well-established and increasingly used technique for the examination and characterization of various pharmaceutical products; it is applicable to solid forms but also, by preparing the samples, to semi-solid and liquid forms.
The use of SEM allows the analysis and identification of particulate contamination.
Through our three levels of services: analysis, expertise and R&D support, FILAB assists pharmaceutical companies in their particle analysis needs according to PE 2.9.52. FILAB provides its customers with the know-how and experience of its team, as well as a 2100m² analytical park equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.
Indeed, FILAB is equipped with SEM-EDX and SEM EBSD analysis technologies.
