## What is a chemometric study?

Chemometrics is a branch of analytical chemistry. It aims to develop techniques for extracting useful data from chemicals obtained through chemical analysis.

A chemometric study is a reinterpretation of results obtained using analytical techniques. It involves the collection of chemical data followed by statistical analysis of the data.

## Why carry out a chemometric study in the laboratory?

In analytical chemistry, complex data sets containing numerous chemical variables are often obtained during analyses. Chemometrics enables these data to be analysed efficiently and relevant information to be extracted. This can include identifying the components present in a sample, estimating concentrations, detecting trends or even the relationship between variables.
