# Bisphenol A Analysis and Testing (CAS No. 80-05-7) in the Laboratory – Copy

### What is Bisphenol A?

Bisphenol A (BPA) is produced by the reaction between phenol and acetone. It is a substance of exclusively anthropogenic origin. Because of its endocrine-disrupting properties, BPA has been recognized as a substance of concern in Europe for several years. It is even banned in France. To learn about all the regulations related to its restriction, [read our article on Bisphenol A](https://filab.fr/en/our-services/our-analysis-services/chemical-analysis-laboratory/laboratory-determination-contents-bisphenol-a.md).

### Your Bisphenol A analysis and testing needs in the face of increasingly strict regulations

Since 2015, control, restriction, and regulation of the use of BPA in everyday consumer products have been increasing. In 2017, [ECHA](https://echa.europa.eu/fr/) classified it at the European level as a *“substance of very high concern”* at the European level.

In France in particular, you now need to prove that your products do not contain this substance. This is all the more true if, in an effort to be more ecological and environmentally friendly, you now use RPET plastics that may contain it.
