What is REACH?
First of all, REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) is the European Union’s regulation to protect human health and the environment from the risks associated with chemical substances
Why a compliance analysis under REACH?
In the EU, REACH requires manufacturers, users and importers of chemical substances, including mixtures, above one tonne per year to register these substances with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) under the REACH compliance criteria.
It is then necessary to compile dossiers containing information on the physico-chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of the substances, an assessment of the risks to health and the environment and the appropriate management measures.
All substances are covered, including natural substances, organic substances and metals. Those used in industrial processes and those found in mixtures, such as in cleaning products, paints as well as substances contained in articles such as textiles, furniture, computer equipment or electronic components.
