 What is the difference between ASTM A269 and ASTM A213 ?
ASTM A269 is intended for **general service tubing** (corrosion, low/high temperature), while ASTM A213 is more specific to **boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers**, often with stricter mechanical requirements.

 Why is carbon determination so important in ASTM A269?
For grades like 316L, a carbon content that is too high (above 0.030%) can lead to **sensitization** of the steel during welding, causing premature corrosion. FILAB uses high-temperature combustion to guarantee this measurement.
