# DMP 6300 safety testing in the laboratory

## Qualification and material safety testing according to the DMP6300 standard (safran aircraft engines)

In the [aerospace](https://filab.fr/en/sectors-of-activity/laboratory-analysis-aeronautics-aerospace.md) and [space](https://filab.fr/secteur-activite/analysis-essais-laboratoire-aerospatial-spatial/) industries, degreasing critical parts leaves no room for compromise. Based on the historical **Snecma \/ [Safran](https://filab.fr/en/about-us/accreditations-en/laboratory-safran-approved.md) Aircraft Engines** foundation, the **DMP6300** standard sets out the safety requirements applicable to temporary chemical ingredients that come into contact with Safran Aircraft Engines-designed equipment.

Filab, an independent laboratory, supports you at every stage of your approval process in accordance with the **DMP 6300** standard.

## What the DMP6300 standard qualifies and regulates

The DMP6300 standard does not apply to cleaning processes (degreasing products are explicitly excluded); it validates the strict safety of **temporary chemical ingredients** brought into contact with Safran Aircraft Engines-designed equipment:

- **Product types:** approval of liquids, pastes, flexible solids and rigid solids (cutting fluids, protective oils, assembly pastes, abrasives, temporary protective products, etc.).
- **Scope of application:** qualification of ingredients for temporary use on metallic materials, excluding degreasing and cleaning operations.
- **Material safety:** strict verification that the product causes no mechanical or chemical degradation to aerospace alloys (high-strength steels, titanium and aluminum alloys, nickel-based superalloys).

## The DMP6300 material safety testing program

To obtain qualification, the temporary ingredient must pass a rigorous battery of physicochemical and metallurgical tests:

 Corrosion inhibiting properties
Measurement of the protection provided to metallic surfaces during contact with the product.

Hydrogen evolution (H₂) & H₂ embrittlement
Assessment of the risk of mechanical embrittlement of high-strength steels under the effect of atomic hydrogen.

 Stress corrosion cracking (SCC)
Verification that no delayed cracking occurs under mechanical stress and in an aggressive environment in the presence of the product.

 Mass loss
Monitoring of dissolution kinetics and verification that the substrate material is not subject to excessive chemical attack.

 High-temperature corrosion
Assessment of surface behavior in the presence of product residues when subsequently exposed to high temperatures.

 Intergranular attack
In-depth metallographic examination to ensure the absence of grain boundary attack.

## Our FAQ

 What is the DMP6300 standard?
The **DMP6300** is a technical standard issued by **Safran Aircraft Engines**. It sets out safety requirements for temporary chemical products that come into contact with the metal parts and structures of its engines.

Which products are covered by DMP6300?
The standard covers all chemical products intended for temporary contact (excluding degreasing and cleaning products): cutting fluids, protective oils, assembly pastes, abrasives, peelable protective coatings, temporary sealants, etc.

What is the difference between pr-6300 and DMP6300?
The **Pr-6300** is the Safran Group's generic material safety standard, while **DMP6300** is the version specific to the Safran Aircraft Engines division. Both standards are based on an extremely similar series of tests and an almost equivalent structure.
