# PMUC testing in the laboratory

## Would you like to carry out a PMUC test with an EDF-approved competent laboratory?

### What is PMUC?

PMUC are Products and Materials Used in power plants, nuclear or thermal. They are used during maintenance, manufacturing, operation and servicing work in a nuclear power plant.

Products and materials classified as PMUC by EDF are divided into 24 categories, including adhesives, varnishes, paints, plastics, seals, cleaning products, abrasives…

### Why carry out PMUC testing?

Following EDF’s Quality approach governed by **the decree** of August 10, 1984, **obligations** in the management of nuclear power plants were announced.

Indeed, PMUC can have an **aggressive** nature, triggering several forms of **corrosion** in the metal alloys used in power plants.

Moreover, PMUC can represent a significant potential source of halogens and sulfur. For this reason, they are subject to specifications aimed at **limiting** their content of harmful chemical elements.

Thus, to ensure their compliance and everyone’s safety, regular PMUC testing is **essential**.

## FILAB supports you with your PMUC testing needs

### Why choose FILAB for PMUC testing?

PMUC testing consists in determining the halogen content ([Fluorine](https://filab.fr/en/our-services/our-analysis-services/halogen-analysis-laboratory/fluorine-analysis-ic-laboratory.md) / Fluorides,[Chlorine](https://filab.fr/en/our-services/our-analysis-services/halogen-analysis-laboratory/chlorine-analysis-ic-laboratory.md) / Chlorides, [Bromine](https://filab.fr/en/our-services/our-analysis-services/halogen-analysis-laboratory/bromine-analysis-laboratory-ic.md) / Bromides) and sulfur content of products and materials used in power plants. This is done in compliance with EDF protocols specific to the product family.

Following the analysis, a report is prepared and sent to the client so they can present the PMUC testing results to EDF.
