### What is polyurethane?

Polyurethane is a material that belongs to the large family of polymers and plastics. Polyurethane foam is made from a reaction between two derivatives of petroleum chemistry.

Commonly used as insulating foam, polyurethane is also found in many other products. Sportswear, tires, mattresses, surgical gloves, paints, some automotive parts and adhesives also contain polyurethane.
