# Polymer decolourisation analysis laboratory

## As an industrialist you wish to carry out a decolourisation analysis of polymers

### How does polymer discolouration occur?

Polymer decolourisation is the process by which the colour of a polymer is altered or removed completely. Polymers are materials that are often used in industry for their chemical resistance, mechanical strength or durability. However, some polymers can be sensitive to light, heat or other environmental factors, which can lead to discoloration.
Discolouration can be caused by several factors, such as exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, heat, exposure to chemicals, or natural ageing processes. Some polymers are more sensitive to discolouration than others, depending on their chemical composition and structure.

### What are the consequences?

Food packaging, children’s toys, electronic equipment, automotive parts, textiles… Discolouration can affect the quality and appearance of products made from polymers. To overcome this problem, manufacturers can use additives to improve the discolouration resistance of polymers, or choose specific polymers that are less sensitive to discolouration.

## FILAB laboratory assists you in analysing the discolouration of your polymers
