Indeed, the [Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), also called Steric Exclusion Chromatography (SEC)](https://filab.fr/en/our-technical-resources/laboratory-analysis-gpc-sec.md), is a technique allowing the determination of the average molecular masses as well as the distribution of the molar masses of polymers.

Moreover, by associating a series of detectors (RI and UV concentration, RALS/LALS light scattering, viscometer), the GPC/SEC technique allows to determine with accuracy the molecular weight and size but also the intrinsic viscosity and the structure of polymers.

Consequently, GPC/SEC allows through the study of the molar mass of polymers to access data such as the degree of polymerization or the dispersity.
