# Analysis according to the INCO regulation n°1169/2011 in laboratory

## Your need: to perform an analysis of nanomaterials according to the INCO regulation n°1169/2011

### The INCO regulation n°1169/2011 in a few words

First of all, the Regulation n°1169/2011 called INCO, published on November 22, 2011, **concerns consumer information on foodstuffs**. This must not mislead the consumer. Thus, the INCO Regulation updates, simplifies and clarifies **the labeling of foodstuffs marketed in the European Union**.

Therefore, the INCO Regulation n°1169/2011 stipulates that **all ingredients that are in the form of manufactured nanomaterials must be clearly indicated in the list of ingredients**, following the name of the ingredient by the term [nano].

### Why perform an analysis of nanomaterials according to the INCO regulation n°1169/2011?

In order to comply with the INCO regulation n°1169/2011, **food manufacturers** must perform laboratory analysis of nanomaterials that may be present in the products concerned. Thus, their **quantification**, the determination of **their nature** and **their origin** are key steps in the **process of compliance with the INCO Regulation No. 1169/2011**.
