ISO 14040 concerns the life cycle assessment (LCA) of a product, service or process. It establishes the basic principles and frameworks for carrying out an LCA. Its aim is to determine their environmental impact.

### ISO 14040 and 14044: who are they for?

Product lifecycle analysis, also known as “ecobalance”, enables manufacturers to identify the main environmental impacts of their products in order to prioritise improvements.
