### What is GC-MSMS analysis ?

GC-MSMS, or gas chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry, is an analytical technique for the precise identification and quantification of chemical compounds in a sample.

It combines two powerful techniques: gas chromatography (GC) and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). This technique offers greater sensitivity than GC-MS

### What can GC-MSMS do ?

Gas chromatography is used to separate the various compounds present in a sample according to their volatility characteristics.

These compounds are then introduced into a tandem mass spectrometer (MSMS) capable of measuring the mass and structure of the molecules. The tandem mass spectrometer consists of two successive molecular fragmentation stages. In the first stage, the compound of interest is fragmented into several specific ions. In the second step, these ions are further fragmented to generate specific fragmentation ions. These fragmentation ions are then detected and analyzed to identify the compounds present in the sample.
