### ISO/TS 16949 standard: what are we talking about?

Developed by the IATF (International Automotive Task Force), the ISO/TS 16949 standard was introduced in 1999 to define a quality system specific to the automotive sector. Linked to the ISO 9001 standard, it meets production requirements specific to safety, environmental and product reliability issues in the automotive industry.

As a guarantee of quality and customer confidence, the adoption of this standard enables the companies concerned to increase their efficiency and enhance their image.

### IATF 16949:2016: what are the evolutions?

Updated in 2016 to align with new ISO 9001:2015 criteria as well as structural changes in the market, the standard is now called IATF 16949:2016.

### What are the main objectives of ISO/TS 16949?

## The key points of the standard

**Customer satisfaction** : The emphasis is on customer feedback to adjust and improve products or services.

**Non-conformity management** : developing robust corrective and preventive actions.

**Control of manufacturing processes** : guaranteeing traceability, regular audits and measurable performance indicators.

Risk analysis: implementing processes such as FMEA (Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis) to anticipate potential problems.

**Requirements for suppliers** : companies must ensure that their suppliers also comply with the defined quality standards.
