### What is retinol?

First of all, retinol is a form of vitamin A. Converted into retinoic acid, it is essential for skin health, but also for bone growth.

### Why analyze and measure retinol?

Essential to the proper functioning of the skin, retinol is effective in the treatment of skin problems. The keratolytic action of retinol makes it the ideal ingredient in the treatment of acne-prone skin. This vitamin is also capable of repairing cellular structures, lowering sebum production and reducing marks and pigmentation.  Due to its cellular communication capabilities, retinol is also able to reduce pore size by telling cells how to act. 

Therefore, accurate dosing and analysis of retinol content as a function of time and environment are key steps in the control or development of cosmetic products.
