### What is a hydrolat?

A hydrolat is an aromatic water that is obtained after distillation of a natural raw material. It is the residual water obtained after separation of the distillation product (the essential oil). ### What is ISO/TR 23199?

This standard describes the method for calculating the biological index of hydrolats. It complements the ISO 16128-2 standard, which itself describes the methods for calculating the Natural, Natural Origin, Organic and Organic Origin Indices that apply to the ingredient categories defined in ISO 16128-1.
