# Laboratory analysis of hydroxyapatite (HAP)

## What is hydroxyapatite (HAP) and why analyze it?

Hydroxyapatite is a calcium phosphate that belongs to the apatite family, a generic name for phosphates of varying composition. Also known as calcium hydroxyapatite, it accounts for up to 50% of bone mass and is the main mineral component of tooth enamel, dentin and bone.

Hydroxyapatite can be used as a filler to replace amputated bone or as a coating to facilitate growth within prosthetic implants, so some modern dental implants are coated with hydroxyapatite.

For this, the support of a laboratory of analysis and expertise allows you to realize your industrial projects by ensuring the conformity of your products.

## FILAB offers you hydroxyapatite characterization techniques adapted to your context

With an analytical facility of 5200m² and a qualified team of doctors and engineers, FILAB laboratory analysis and characterizes hydroxyapatite, through the following services

- Analysis of the chemical composition of hydroxyapatite
- Characterization of PAH powder according to NF ISO 13779-3 standard
- Determination of hydroxyapatite in cement
- Nanomaterial classification of hydroxyapatite
- Measurement of Ca/P ratio
- Characterization and determination of crystallinity rate of hydroxyapatite by X-ray Diffraction (XRD)
