Analysis of surgical implants according to ASTM F1295
What does the ASTM F1295 standard say?
ASTM F1295 specifies the chemical, mechanical and metallurgical requirements for wrought titanium-6 aluminum-7 niobium (Ti-6Al-7Nb) alloy.
Ti-6Al-7Nb is an alloy composed mainly of aluminum and niobium and is used in the form of bars, powders, wires, sheets and plates for the manufacture of various surgical implants.
Therefore, the ASTM F1295 standard imposes manufacturing and analysis methods in order to characterize the composition and properties of Ti-6Al-7Nb alloy to ensure the quality of medical devices but especially, of surgical implants.
