Method development for nitrosamines

Your needs: develop or optimize analytical methods for nitrosamines that are reliable, fast and transposable to your production sites.

What are nitrosamines?

Nitrosamines are a group of molecules essentially composed of nitrogen and oxygen. Found in many areas, nitrosamines can be found in food products, plastics, cosmetics and some drugs (as a solvent).

The production of nitrosamines in cosmetics and personal care products occurs in two ways:

  1. If there is an ingredient that acts as a nitrosating agent in cosmetic products, nitrosamines are formed that way.
  2. Nitrosamines also form if cosmetic products contain an amine ingredient combined with production or storage conditions that promote nitrosamine formation. Thus, several nitrosamines exist including:

NDBA (N-nitrosodibutylamine)
NDPA (N-nitrosodipropylamine)
NDMA (N-nitrosodimethylamine)
NDIPA (Nitroso-diisopropylamine)

It is important to note that nitrosamines, or N-nitroso compounds, are generally produced unintentionally.

Why develop methods for nitrosamines?

Within the framework of a product launch, a process optimization or a regulatory evolution, the development of tailor-made methods allows industrialists (pharmaceutical, cosmetic…) of any sector to carry out specific analysis for nitrosamines.

Several parameters are to be taken into account in the development and validation of analytical methods for nitrosamines, the main ones being: specificity, repeatability, reproducibility, linearity and detection capacity (LoD and LoQ).

Our solutions: design, develop and validate customized methods by providing the human and technical resources adapted to your needs.

The FILAB laboratory supports you in the development and validation of analytical methods, and takes charge of the various stages of implementation. With its high level of in-house expertise and diversified analytical equipment (GC-MS, LC-MSMS, ICP-MS, etc.), FILAB analyzes your needs and offers you solutions that are adapted to your specific requirements.

FILAB laboratory also has a method validated by COFRAC for the control of certain nitrosamines by LC-MSMS in the framework of the ISO 10993-18 standard.
