A thermodesorber is an added feature of gas chromatography. The thermodesorber traps volatile organic compounds in the sampled air and concentrates them before injection into the column.
This step makes it possible to increase the concentration of an analyte by a factor of 1000 and thus to analyze analytes in extremely low concentrations.
Moreover, among the fields of application concerned by this technique, we find those where gas analysis is essential.
Thus, areas such as refineries, storage and distribution of natural gas, process control, quality assurance etc… are concerned by this method.
