Deformulation of rubber in the laboratory

You need to deform a rubber for your industrial research?

What is a rubber?

A rubber is a polymer with elastic properties that allow it to withstand several deformulation actions before breaking.  It can be of natural, synthetic or petrochemical origin.

Why deform a rubber?

The deformulation of a rubber is a method allowing, with the help of various chemical analysis, to determine the nature and the quantity of raw material of the material.

In addition, it allows to better know the studied rubber, to better understand the structural problems of this one but also to characterize its defective quality.

Thus, the deformation of rubber allows to improve the performance of a material but also to better target your suppliers or to understand a failure phenomenon.

FILAB supports you in the analysis of the deformulation of your rubber.

This deformulation analysis approach allows to answer different needs such as

Our services

Analyze and determine the chemical composition of a rubber

Compare the composition of several rubbers (double-sourcing or multi-sourcing)

Check the compliance of a rubber with a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) or a technical data sheet

Understand a failure phenomenon: color change, pollution, adhesion...

our resources

FTIR to determine the composition of the elastomer

GCMS and Py-GCMS to quantify additives, residual monomers, Bisphenol A, phthalates...

SEM/EDX to characterize a particle or a deposit

DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) to measure melting and degradation temperatures, crystallinity rate...

ICP to identify mineral fillers (Talc, silica fiber,...)
