Used for centuries, brazing is a permanent assembly process that establishes metallic continuity between different parts. Based on atomic diffusion/migration mechanisms, it may or may not use a filler metal. A distinction is made between soft brazing (temperatures below 450°C) and hard brazing (temperatures above 450°C). Widely used in industry and electronics, this assembly technique is also used in the aerospace, aeronautics and automotive industries. To meet the requirements of these numerous fields, various alloys have been developed. These include copper-based (Cu-P, Cu-P-Ag), tin-based (SAC 305, SN100C, 63/37) and silver-based (Ag-Cu-Zn) alloys. The suitability of these materials for use as brazing alloys is mainly associated with their chemical compositions which will govern their thermal properties. Thus, the determination of the elemental chemical composition of these alloys (raw materials or soldering waves), carried out mainly by SEO and ICP, will make it possible to control their properties as soldering alloys, which can also be directly characterized from a thermal point of view (DSC calorimetric analysis) and mechanical point of view (dynamometric tests).
