You would like to carry out cryo-SEM testing

The Cryo-SEM (Cryo-Scanning Electron Microscopy) analysis technique is an advanced method used to observe samples in their native or hydrated state while preserving their original structure thanks to rapid vitrification.

What is the Cryo-SEM technique ?

The Cryo-SEM technique is defined as a sample preparation system by lyophilization. Using this method, samples are rapidly frozen in their hydrated form in liquid ethane. In doing so, their state is fixed without the need to use dyes or chemical fixatives.

This technique is mainly used on biological matter. But it is also possible to use it on organic matter in order to better visualize its morphological changes.

The added value of a cryo-SEM testing

This very recent technique, already available at FILAB, allows for exceptionally precise results thanks to the unique resolution and sharpness of the images it produces.

Cryo-SEM (Cryo Scanning Electron Microscopy) is a technique used to observe specimens in a frozen state, particularly those containing water or fats, such as biological materials, food products, and cosmetics.

In conventional SEM observation, the specimen’s shape can be altered due to the evaporation of water and fats under the vacuum environment. However, with Cryo-SEM testing, the specimen is rapidly frozen, allowing it to retain its original shape and structure, ensuring accurate imaging without deformation.
