Laboratory analysis by Cryo-SEM

Analysis of organic matter by Cryo-SEM

What is the Cryo-SEM technique ?

The Cryo-SEM technique is defined as a sample preparation system by lyophilization. Using this method, samples are rapidly frozen in their hydrated form in liquid ethane. In doing so, their state is fixed without the need to use dyes or chemical fixatives.

This technique is mainly used on biological matter. But it is also possible to use it on organic matter in order to better visualize its morphological changes.

The added value of a cryo-SEM analysis

This very recent technique, already available at FILAB, allows for exceptionally precise results thanks to the unique resolution and sharpness of the images it produces.
