What is a technical ceramic?

For more than 20 years, our FILAB laboratory has had the experience and specific analytical equipment to assist companies in the analysis and failure expertise of technical ceramics, through tailor-made support.
From analysis to R&D, the FILAB laboratory offers a multisectoral expertise for several types of requests related to technical ceramics
- Quantitative analysis of the elemental chemical composition of ceramics
- Crystallographic characterization to identify crystalline phases on ceramics
- Determination of the physical properties (granulometry, density, specific surface, porosity, …) of ceramics
- Study of thermal properties (dilatation, thermogravimetry, calorimetry, heat capacity, …) of ceramics
- Morphological and microstructural expertise and study of failure by Field Effect Scanning Electron Microscopy (FEG-SEM) coupled with an EDX microprobe.
For this type of service, the FILAB laboratory uses state-of-the-art analysis techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy coupled with an EDX microprobe (SEM FEG-EDX), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) completed by physical characterization techniques (laser granulometry, BET, porosimetry, pycnometry), thermal (ATG, ATG-IRTF, DSC, dilatometry) or chemical analysis (ICP-AES, ICP-MS, CHONS).
