Ethylbenzene is an aromatic organic compound derived from benzene, it is mainly obtained by alkylation of benzene with ethylene.
Ethylbenzene is used in :
- Reforming gasolines alongside xylenes.
- The manufacture of styrene

- Synthetic rubber resins.
It is found as a component (15-20%) of the commercial product sold as xylenes, or xylene mixture, which is used as a solvent in many types of paints, lacquers, stains, varnishes and automotive cleaning products. In the same form, it is also added to gasoline and other types of fuels.
