REACH analysis for polymers

State of play of REACH analysis for polymers

REACH in a nutshell...

First of all, REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) is the European regulation that requires all manufacturers and importers of chemical substances, including mixtures of more than one tonne per year, to register these substances with the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency).

What about the REACH regulation for polymers?

So far polymers are exempt from the REACH registration processes. This is because polymers are not regulated as such but rather according to their monomers.

Under REACH, manufacturers and importers of chemical substances, including polymer monomers, must register with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and provide information on the safety of these substances.
