As a manufacturer, you want to carry out an analysis of your stainless steels in accordance with the ASTM A380 standard.

What does the ASTM A380 standard say?

ASTM A380 describes the analytical methods for cleaning, descaling and passivating new stainless steel parts, assemblies, equipment and systems. It includes 11 different cleaning processes (alkaline, emulsion, solvent, detergent, etc.) and describes cleaning techniques (steam degreasing, ultrasonic cleaning, mechanical cleaning and water jet cleaning).

What is the purpose of the ASTM A380 standard?

The standards set out in this standard are designed to eliminate surface contaminants from stainless steels that could have a detrimental effect on corrosion resistance, lead to subsequent contamination of a steel grade or cause product contamination.

When should the ASTM A380 standard be used?

In a production process, you are required to carry out quality controls on your metals and nickel alloys in accordance with the standards in force before incorporating them into your processes. The FILAB laboratory can offer you its expertise in analysing your nickel alloys in accordance with ASTM standard E2594.

Which business sectors are covered by this standard?

The ASTM A380 standard covers all sectors of activity: pharmaceuticals, medical devices, aerospace, marine, chemicals, etc. It is applicable to all fields where stainless steel parts, assemblies, equipment and systems are used.

The FILAB laboratory can help you with your ASTM A380 analysis needs.

Why choose FILAB for your ASTM A380 stainless steel analyses?

For this type of service, the FILAB laboratory uses cutting-edge analysis techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy coupled with a microprobe (SEM FEG-EDX), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) combined with corrosion tests (salt fog chamber) or basic analysis techniques (ICP-AES, ICP-AES, CLI).

Thanks to its high-level, multidisciplinary team, the FILAB laboratory can offer you a wide range of basic metallurgical analysis services in accordance with current regulations (ASTM, etc.) to check all your titanium raw materials and finished products.
