Nuclear industry companies, do you want to characterize metal powders?

Why characterize metal powders for the nuclear industry?

First of all, metal powders play a special role in the manufacture of metal parts used in nuclear power plants.

Indeed, metal powders can be used for the additive manufacturing of complex-structure metal parts used in nuclear power plants.

Therefore, characterizing the physicochemical properties as well as the quality of your metal powders is an essential step in the inspection and manufacturing of metal parts used in nuclear power plantsnuclear.

FILAB supports you in the characterization of metal powders in the nuclear sector

Through our three levels of services: analysis, expertise, and R&D support, FILAB supports nuclear industry companies in the characterization of metal powders. To do this, FILAB provides its clients with the know-how and experience of its team, as well as a analytical platform equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

The FILAB laboratory is COFRAC ISO 17025 accredited for:

  • specific surface area measurement using the BET method (according to ISO 9277) and laser particle size analysis (according to ISO 13320 in liquid and dry media),
  • density measurement by helium pycnometry (according to ASTM B923 and ISO 12154),
  • grain size determination (according to ASTM E112 and NF EN ISO 643) for bulk materials.
