Laboratory analysis of silica-based products, substances and materials
Your needs: carrying out silica analysis in your products and materials for quality control purposes
What is silica?
Silica, or silicon dioxide, is a mineral chemical substance found in the composition of many minerals and products.
Silica exists in 2 different forms:
- The amorphous form: silica gel, diatomaceous earth, colloidal silica…
- The crystalline form: quartz, granite, sandstone, cristobalite, tridymite
Crystalline silica is used as a raw material in many materials (concrete, facade coatings, glue, paint, rubber, and ceramic-based materials).
Crystalline silica: what are the risks?
The crystalline form is not without advantages, as it also poses risks to human health. In fact, crystalline silica has been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as a carcinogenic substance since 1997.
In the workplace, certain sectors are particularly exposed to silica inhalation (foundries, the ceramics, porcelain and glass industries, etc.), which can lead to other diseases such as silicosis.
Our solutions: analyzing and characterizing your silica-based products and materials
