Your needs: carry out GC-MS analysis of your material or product

What is a GC-MS analysis?

Chemical analysis by Gas Chromatography coupled with Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) is used to separate different volatile and semi-volatile compounds in a mixture and analyze them qualitatively, semi-quantitatively, and quantitatively.

This technique is particularly suitable for analyzing non-polar volatile compounds such as residual solvents, oils, hydrocarbons, alkane derivatives, and small organic molecules such as phthalates…

There are complementary analysis modules available to analyze a wide range of volatile and semi-volatile substances:

  • Headspace analysis coupled with GC-MS
  • Thermal desorption analysis coupled with GC-MS

How does GC-MS analysis work?

First, the sample is injected into the GC and vaporized in a high-temperature oven. Then, the sample components are separated according to their interactions with a chromatographic column. Finally, the separated molecules are ionized, then detected and identified by their unique mass.

When is GC-MS chromatography analysis useful?

Analysis by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) is a technique commonly used in many fields, such as analytical chemistry and pharmacology ...

Here are some examples of situations where GC-MS chromatography analysis may be useful:

  • Identifying the components of a complex mixture
  • Detecting trace contaminants in food or pharmaceutical products
  • Determining the composition of essential oils and fragrances

In short, GC-MS chromatography is a versatile tool for analyzing volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds in a wide variety of matrices.

Why outsource GC-MS chromatography analysis?

There are several reasons why a company or laboratory may choose to outsource its GC-MS chromatography analysis:

  • Costs: Purchasing and installing GC-MS equipment can be expensive, especially if sophisticated instrumentation is required for specific applications. Outsourcing GC-MS analysis can be more cost-effective, as there is no need to invest in equipment or staff training.
  • Expertise: GC-MS analysis is a complex technique that requires in-depth knowledge of instrumentation and sampling procedures. Laboratories specializing in GC-MS analysis often employ highly qualified and experienced scientists and technicians who can provide valuable expertise and advice.
  • Time: GC-MS analysis can be time-consuming, particularly for complex samples. Outsourcing analysis allows companies and laboratories to focus on other tasks and projects without compromising the quality of the results.
  • Flexibility: Laboratories specializing in GC-MS analysis often have a range of equipment and analytical methods to meet a variety of analytical requirements. Outsourcing analysis therefore enables companies and laboratories to benefit from greater flexibility when selecting the analytical methods best suited to their needs.
