Analysis and determination of DMF in the laboratory
You need to analyze and measure DMF
First, N,N-dimethylformamide or DMF is a common solvent in organic chemistry. Indeed, it is a polar aprotic solvent with a high melting/boiling point commonly used for chemical reactions.
Pure DMF is odorless while it often acquires a fishy odor upon degradation due to the presence of dimethylamine. DMF is also used in the production of acrylic fibers and plastics. It is also used to couple peptides in the pharmaceutical industry, in the production of pesticides, glues, synthetic leathers, fibers, films, and coatings. In addition, DMF penetrates many plastics and causes them to swell. It is therefore frequently used as a component of paint solvents.
Thus, only a laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art analytical equipment is able to perform the analysis and determination of DMF in all matrices where it may be present.
