Fluid and product qualification and safety testing according to the SAFRAN PR 1500 standard (PR-1500)
In the aerospace sector, integrating a new process fluid or a temporary-use ingredient (cleaners, degreasers, protective products, solvents) requires absolute rigor. To ensure that your products do not degrade the metallic and composite materials used in structures and engines, our laboratory performs safety and qualification testing according to the SAFRAN PR 1500 document (and PR-6300).
Why is PR 1500 qualification essential?
The SAFRAN PR 1500 standard applies to the entire aerospace supply chain (OEMs, subcontractors, equipment manufacturers and chemical formulators). It is intended to ensure that a fluid applied during manufacturing, assembly or maintenance does not cause any harmful alteration to critical alloys.
Qualification according to the SAFRAN PR 1500 standard notably validates:
The corrosive impact of the product on aluminum, titanium, steel, copper and magnesium alloys.
Material/fluid compatibility under actual or accelerated operating conditions.
The absence of any risk of embrittlement (stress corrosion cracking, hydrogen embrittlement).
Our testing services according to the SAFRAN PR 1500 standard
Our analytical protocols cover all the tests required for the approval of your liquid, paste or solid products.
Corrosion and Mass Loss Testing
Mass loss on metal alloys: measurement of the fluid's aggressiveness on various specimens (aluminum, copper, titanium, magnesium).

Stress corrosion cracking: assessment of cracking risks in titanium alloys and high-strength steels.

High-temperature and cyclic corrosion: validation of product performance under high thermal stresses.
High-temperature and cyclic corrosion: validation of product performance under high thermal stresses.
Compatibility and Reactivity Testing
Safety testing of temporary-use ingredients: degreasers, cleaners, cutting fluids, and inter-operation solvents.

Micrographic analysis: examination of the surface after immersion to detect any pitting or structural alterations.

Analysis turnaround times at the FILAB laboratory vary depending on the type of analysis and the complexity of the expertise project.
FILAB is nevertheless committed to providing fast turnaround times tailored to your industrial constraints and urgent requirements.
The standard covers all ingredients and process products for temporary use employed in production or maintenance: degreasing/cleaning fluids, cutting oils, solvents, temporary corrosion protection products, penetrant testing liquids, etc.
These two SAFRAN standards govern the safety testing of chemical products on materials. Depending on the technical definition of the ingredient and its field of application (engine, equipment, structure), one or the other (or even both) will be specified by SAFRAN in the specifications.
