Why conduct PR-6300 / PR-1500 safety tests?

Ingredients intended for temporary use (fluids, protective products, lubricants, cleaners, pastes, or solids) inevitably come into contact with critical metallic materials.

Even temporary exposure can lead to corrosion, surface alteration, mass loss, or embrittlement, compromising the reliability and safety of equipment.

➡️Safety testing aims to verify the chemical compatibility between an ingredient and metallic materials. These tests are fully aligned with a fluid resistance and material/fluid compatibility approach, adapted to aeronautical requirements.

SAFRAN accreditation - what's it all about ?

SAFRAN approval is a qualification issued by the  SAFRAN Group to certify the conformity of analysis techniques used in a laboratory to the Group's specifications. This qualification also serves as a basis for many companies in the aerospace sector.

Following inter-laboratory comparison tests (PTP), SAFRAN selects service providers meeting the Group's requirements, and grants approval for one or more defined analysis methods.

Safety tests according to Pr-6300 and Pr-1500

The Pr-6300 document is issued by Safran and defines the safety tests required to authorize the use of temporary-use ingredients on Safran-designed metal equipment.

This document applies whenever it is referenced in the technical specifications of an ingredient.

There are three types of temporary-use ingredients that meet the safety test requirements defined by Safran’s Pr-6300 document.

Liquid products
Paste or flexible solid products
Rigid solid products

FILAB laboratory performs safety tests on temporary-use ingredients for SAFRAN

FILAB assists manufacturers in the qualification and validation of ingredients for temporary use by conducting safety tests in accordance with PR-6300 and PR-1500 requirements.

These tests allow for the evaluation of:

  • the corrosive impact of the chemicals,
  • material/fluid compatibility, and
  • material behavior under conditions representative of real-world use.

FILAB is SAFRAN approved

For several years, FILAB has held the Laboratory Qualification issued by the SAFRAN Group under procedures GRP-0087, GRM-0123, and TTS-MOP-004.

The accreditation covers the chemical analysis of metallic alloys and mineral products, as well as the chemical analysis of surface treatment baths:

Elemental analyzers (C/S, N/O, and H),
Spark Optical Emission Spectrometry (SEO), and
Inductively Coupled Plasma Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES).

This accreditation recognizes the organization, work and knowledge of our teams, and their ability to meet the demands of the aerospace industry.
