Elemental chemical analysis consists of determining the proportions of atoms of each chemical element present in the composition of a substance or product. The chemical elements to be interpreted by elemental chemical analysis can belong to different categories:

Chemical elements

Organic elements, constituted on the basis of carbon (nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, sulphur, phosphorus...).

Heavy metals (mercury, lead...)

Metal alloys, a mixture of different metal elements.

Each category of element can be determined using a specific elemental chemical analysis technique, which breaks down the structure of a substance to identify and quantify the elements present.

Since October 2015, FILAB laboratory is COFRAC ISO 17025 accredited for the elemental analysis of heavy metals in PM and pharmaceutical products according to an internal method validated in accordance with the recommendations of the European Pharmacopoeia 2.4.20 and the US Pharmacopoeia USP 233.
