As a manufacturer, you want to carry out chemical analyses of your products in accordance with the COSPATOX guideline.

What is the COSPATOX guideline?

The COSPATOX guideline (Cosmetics, Packaging and Toxicology) refers to a set of guidelines drawn up by a group of European brand owners in the cosmetics, detergents, hygiene and plastics industries. They aim to guarantee the safety and efficacy of products in terms of their toxicological potential. It enables the risks associated with ingredients and finished products to be assessed. The safety principles set out in the COSPATOX guidelines are aligned with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, although there is no specific regulation bearing the name “COSPATOX”.

Its main objective is to address specific missing safety standards for post-consumer recycled plastics(PCR) intended for cosmetics and other household packaging, as well as to implement on-site measurement methods for recyclers.

Why carry out analyses according to the COSPATOX guideline?

Conducting analyses in accordance with the COSPATOX guideline is fundamental to guaranteeing the safety, regulatory compliance and quality of cosmetic and detergent products. This not only protects consumers, but also enhances a company’s reputation, enables safe innovation and minimises legal risks. By following these guidelines, companies can ensure that their products are safe, effective and comply with the highest standards in the cosmetics industry.
